A Texas health professional was sentenced to six months in prison for sexually abusing a patient.
The Texas Department of Public Safety announced Friday that Brian M. Gentry, 63, of Austin was sentenced for aggravated sexual assault of a patient by penetration, according to the department.
The victim was an 87-year-old woman who went to Gentry’s home for treatment for an infection.
The sexual act was not reported to authorities until more than a year later, when the victim contacted the Texas Health and Human Services Department and reported Gentry had assaulted her.
Grooms victims were identified through social media and social media postings, according the department’s news release.
Gentry pleaded guilty to the charges in November.
He had previously been sentenced to 15 months in state prison for a similar offense in 2013.
In 2014, Gentry pleaded no contest to one count of aggravated sexual abuse of a victim under age 18 and was ordered to perform 50 hours of community service and pay $2,400 in restitution to the victim.
