The New York City Department of Health has opened an application to the state to license the Holistic Healthcare Center.
The center’s chief executive officer, Dr. Christopher T. Johnson, said he expects to receive a license next month.
The license, which allows for more than 3,000 employees and their dependents, will allow the center to expand the number of health-care services it provides to residents, he said.
The New York Department of City Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking applicants for a health-related license.
The city previously licensed a similar center in Westchester County.
Johnson said the center’s license will be awarded based on the number and quality of its offerings, and not the number or quality of patient care, the center said.
Johnson was named president of the Holistically Health Care Center in March.
The license was required under the state’s Affordable Care Act to be granted if a facility provides services such as emergency room care and behavioral health.
