A Christian health care provider is under investigation by a federal health department after it allegedly failed to provide adequate documentation of a patient’s medical history to its patients, a complaint filed by the agency says.
The complaint filed Friday in a federal court in Dallas says that in November, the health care facility in Dallas was notified that a patient had been diagnosed with Lyme disease.
The investigation alleges that the health center was not required to notify its patients about the diagnosis and did not follow up with the patient.
The health center did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
The lawsuit says that the case raises important questions about whether Christian HealthCare’s lack of transparency is contributing, and possibly even causing, the outbreak.
The complaint says that this is because Christian Health cares for an older client of the facility, who is also a patient of another Christian health center.
The patients in question have since died.
The Health and Human Services Department’s Office of Inspector General announced that it is investigating the allegations.
“The Health Care Exchange is an important part of American health care and we take these complaints very seriously,” said HHS Deputy Secretary of Health Thomas Perez.
“We are reviewing the matter, and will take appropriate action.”
A spokesperson for the U.S. attorney for the Western District of Texas did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Breitbart News.
